Scopia, if you don't mind my asking, how did you go from Catholic to Orthodox to Muslim in a matter of months?!

This is how Muslims react sometimes to Catholic women.

If they had finished the job in the Crusades the world would be a much more peaceful place.

I never was an Orthodox, I inquired about it. I have studied Islam ever since I had to write a research paper on it in college. I have had Muslim friends for a good portion of my life and always was interested in it. I was a Catholic for the first 26 years of my life, unless you count the time my mother forbade me to go to Mass and the time I was not really religious at all. Finally the whole thing with the annulments for my soon soon to be ex husband and other issues finally got to me, so I renounced my Catholic faith.Tried going to a Protestant church, didnt work out. I left the USA in June with my son, what I could pack in a couple of suitcases and my unborn daughter. I could not take my ex abuse anylonger. I started going to lectures at the local mosque and reading and asking questions. I converted less than 2 monthes ago. I have a new home, a new life and a new faith that finally answers all of my questions in a logical manner. My divorce will be final in a few monthes as I have to file in Virginia, but I have a barrister taking care of things for me. My husband didnt know I was pregnant when I left and he never will know about our daughter. She was born on October 12 via cesection a month early. I was finally able to bring her home on Monday. I love my life over here, I have family and friends who love me and support me, Im for the first time in my life financially secure and will be going to nursing school after Christmas. Islam has given the peace and security that I have been searching for a longtime, but was never able to find in Christianity.

I thought Christianity aHhored violence? Not very Christian at all the attitude you have. Catholics are a self rightous bunch of hypocrit of all sects of the Christian religion. Look at my soon to be ex husband a rapist and wife abuser? When it comes down to it, he would rather have lived the life of celibate monk and asectism than to be a husband and father. OF course since the RCC said our marriage was not valid, the more reason to abandon us and of course sex is sinful and every t ime we did it he would be down on his knees praying for forgiveness and then going to confession the next day. Of course it was my fault he gave in to the "lust of the flesh" and one night when I said no, he took it anyway. Punched me in the face and called me a whore, I believe that was when my daughter was concieved. Well he can have his monastic life so he can be more holy. Yet while he was doing this to me he was a catechist and an extraordinary minister of holy communion. I went to the parish priest who refused to even talk to him and since we were not sacramentally married, he could not advise him to treat me like a wife should be treated. The RCC made him even more of a whack job than he was before.

Hahaha, the male prolifer fundies will have a ball with that statement!

The father has a right to know, donchaknow? LOL

Usually I would agree the father has a right to know and maybe he will find out, but in order to protect my child I had to leave him. I would never ever have aborted though.

Yes, because all Catholic priests molest children, just like all Muslims are terrorists...

Anyway, snide come backs aside, congrats on your new faith. I have some good friends who are Muslims, and they're actually more pias then some of the christians I know.

Usually I would not say such a thing, but with Auggie it is hard to remain kind. Giving him a taste of his own medicine, but I think you would have to agree that too many priest did do it and the Vatican just looked the other way.

I know, I just felt left out. Hehe.

As for paedy priests, I believe there were a lot of innocent children who were harmed, a lot of shady Bishops who didn't crack down hard enough and a lot of innocent priests were accused. There was a case in NZL where a guy accused a priest of molesting him 20 years ago, this priest got dragged through the mud, the school he taught at was thoroughly investigated, basically it ruined A LOT of people's lives. Then it turned out that guy who made the accusation had not been molested by the priest, in fact he hadn't even attended the school the priest had taught at. The guy's cousin had and told him that this priest was an awesome guy but was very strict on math lessons or something mundane.

When the priest was thought to be a paedophile it was front page news.

When the priest was proven innocent due to vicious lies there was a small block in the back section of the paper.

There were other cases of people making false accusations, which of course, damages the reputation and lives of the accused priest but also makes it harder for children who were really molested to come forward. Its like women who make false rape complaints, they do so much damage to real rape victims.

In my own life, there was a priest at my parish who was accused of molestation, it was complete and utter BS, I was the head girl altar server at the time and I was always present with the other younger children and the priest, he was never alone with any of those children. The reality was he was dark skinned and a certain elderly racist element didn't want him as the priest in a parish in a higher socio economic area.

Anyway, as it stands there are just as many paedophiles in other religions, and all walks of life and all professions.

That's not to say I'm condoning it or trying to limit its destruction. Frankly, I think all priests accused of such actions should be investigated fully by the law and then face trial and whatever punishment is metred out to a lay paedophile should be given to a priest. Then he should be defroked and excommunicated.

No ifs, buts, or maybe!

They are in a higher position of power then the average kiddy fiddler, they should face a higher punishment, and they will when they face God.

You wouldn't be a Muslim because you happened to fall in love with one would you?
